Abstract
Hangman¢¥s fracture means bilateral axis ring fracture caused by hyperextension injury. According to Effendi¢¥s classification, type 2 or 3 fractures should be treated surgically because of instability. But the method of surgical fixation and fusion is controversial. Occipital cervical loop, a new fixation device, is made to support fusion so rigidly. We treated a type 3 Hangman¢¥s fracture case surgically by fusion and fixation with occipital cervical loop. We report this surgical technique with review of literatures about Hangman¢¥s fracture.
